Frequently Asked Questions

Acrewise Civil services Victoria, southern New South Wales, and eastern South Australia. We regularly work across rural, regional, and peri-urban areas. Travel outside these regions can be arranged on request.

We operate on a competitive day rate that includes eight hours of machine run time. This means the clock only starts when the machine begins mulching or earthworks. Float (transport) fees are quoted separately. We believe in full transparency, with no hidden charges.

Do you provide free quotes? A: Yes. We provide free, no-obligation quotes. Where possible, we review your property via photos, aerial maps, or site visits. This allows us to recommend the most efficient and cost-effective approach for your job.

We specialise in mulching and clearing invasive weeds such as gorse, blackberry, tea tree, broom, and woody weeds. We also mulch dead standing trees, saplings, scrub, and bushfire fuel loads. We do not remove large native trees without relevant permits.

In most rural areas, you can remove declared noxious weeds without a permit. However, some councils in Victoria enforce planning overlays (such as Environmental Significance Overlays or Vegetation Protection Overlays). Where these apply, you may need a permit for certain tree removals. • The Country Fire Authority (CFA) 10/30 and 10/50 rules allow landowners to clear vegetation within 10 metres of a dwelling, and trees within 30–50 metres, without a permit in bushfire-prone areas. • We always recommend checking with your local council, and we can provide guidance where needed.

Yes. Acrewise Civil is fully insured with public liability and machinery cover. We operate with strict safety standards and comply with Victorian workplace health and safety requirements.

Yes. We offer one-off mulching projects as well as scheduled maintenance programs to keep weeds and regrowth under control. This is particularly effective when combined with follow-up herbicide treatments on fresh regrowth.

Absolutely. Clearing overgrown blocks, fence lines, and paddocks increases usability, accessibility, and overall property value. Many clients engage us prior to selling a property or preparing land for grazing, farming, or development.

Yes. Our excavator-mounted mulcher is designed for steep ground, gullies, and uneven terrain where a skid steer may not be suitable. We assess each site for safe access before works commence.

No. Mulching leaves an organic layer on the soil surface, protecting it from erosion, conserving moisture, and returning nutrients. Unlike burning, it improves soil health and avoids loss of topsoil.

Mulching is extremely effective, especially as our machines penetrate into the soil to target root structures. However, some weeds may regrow. The best results come from mulching followed by herbicide treatment on any regrowth.

Yes. We service everything from small acreage lifestyle blocks through to 100+ hectare farms and commercial plantations. No job is too big or too small.

Yes. We frequently mulch creek lines, dam edges, and fence boundaries. We take care to avoid soil disturbance near waterways and comply with Victorian waterway protection rules.

Depending on our schedule, we can usually book smaller jobs within 2–3 weeks. Larger projects may require more lead time, but we always aim to meet seasonal and fire-preparation deadlines.

Yes. Smaller stumps are mulched into the ground. For larger stumps, we offer grinding or excavation depending on what’s required.

Mulched material is left spread across the ground as a natural layer. This improves soil moisture retention, prevents erosion, and reduces weed regrowth. In many cases, it creates a clean, walkable, park-like finish.

Yes. Bushfire fuel reduction is one of our core services. We create defendable space around homes, sheds, fences, and firebreaks, in line with CFA and council guidelines. This work reduces fine fuels, saplings, and scrub that could increase fire risk.

Yes. Our clients include private landholders, farmers, lifestyle property owners, local councils, and large commercial operators. We tailor our approach depending on the project scale.

Mulching offers a faster, safer, and more environmentally responsible solution compared to chemical spraying or burning off. • No burning-off required: Unlike fire, there’s no need to sit and monitor smouldering piles for hours or days. Mulching provides an instant result without the ongoing risk and supervision. • Chemical-free: Mulching avoids the use of herbicides that can impact waterways, stock, wildlife, and soil health. This makes it ideal for environmentally sensitive areas or properties where livestock graze. • Immediate results: The land is cleared and usable the same day, with no waiting period for chemicals to take effect or for fire debris to cool. This means paddocks, firebreaks, or fence lines are ready to use straight away. • Soil improvement: Mulched vegetation is returned to the ground as an organic layer, boosting soil fertility, conserving moisture, and reducing erosion. Over time, this mulch layer encourages healthier pasture and native regrowth. • Reduced regrowth: Our machines mulch vegetation deep into the soil, targeting root crowns and significantly reducing regrowth. This provides longer-lasting results compared to surface slashing or spraying alone. • Wildlife-friendly: Mulching clears invasive weeds while leaving the soil and surrounding environment intact. Unlike burning, it does not destroy habitat wholesale, and unlike chemicals, it avoids harming non-target species. • Cost-effective: Because of the speed and effectiveness of modern forestry mulchers, large areas can be cleared in less time than it takes for spraying programs or manual cutting, often at lower total cost. • Compliance advantage: Many councils encourage mulching as it aligns with Victorian land management guidelines for sustainable weed control and bushfire preparedness

Our primary service is vegetation mulching, but we also offer earthmoving, property clean-ups, and dam/fire trail works. If rubbish removal is required, we can arrange this as part of the project.

Yes. We create and maintain fire trails, tracks, and access points for vehicles, fire trucks, and farm equipment. This is an important part of bushfire preparedness and property management.

Safety is our priority. All operators are fully licensed and experienced. We use exclusion zones, signage, and protective equipment, and comply with Victorian Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws.

Light rain usually doesn’t stop mulching, but heavy rain can create safety issues or cause soil damage. If conditions are unsuitable, we reschedule at no cost to the client.

Yes. Our machines can mulch safely within tight areas. We take care to protect infrastructure and maintain safe clearances while working close to structures.

Yes. We have experience working with landcare groups, councils, and state-funded weed-control programs. We can provide documentation and reporting as required for compliance.

We accept bank transfer and major payment methods. Payment terms are generally on completion of works unless otherwise arranged for larger contracts.

Absolutely. We don’t just clear and leave — we work with property owners on long-term strategies, including follow-up mulching, spraying, and pasture regeneration.
